Cleanse: Part 2

Take Epsom baths; these are cheap and readily available at about £3 per kilo which lasts many, many baths. The salts actually draw out toxins and help the skin and circulatory systems get cleaner. You can add a few drops of your favourite essential oil (lavender, tea tree or rose) for added relaxation purposes.

  • Swap chemical cosmetics for clean, truly natural products. You can take it one step at a time but you might want to consider your cleanser, toner, moisturiser and body lotions first. I recommend organic raw coconut oil for everything; use it as a body lotion, hair oil (tiny amount on wet or dry), cuticle oil, gum rub and face moisturiser.

  • Good brands to use are Lush (they do use some chemicals like SLS but this range is undeniably fantastic), The Organic Pharmacy, Balm Balm, Ren, Neals Yard Remedies, John Masters, Weleda, Raw Gaia and Jason. Good websites to check are:

  • Swap your deodorant for a natural one. It’s no secret that lathering chemicals on some of our most sensitive parts right next to our lymph nodes is a cancer promoter. It is nature’s intention that we smell when we are sweaty. It’s actually meant to be naturally attractive! The simplest way to get un-smelly is to get cleaner! So this is a no-brainer as it is encouraging a whole new set of rules to becoming clean. If there is one thing you do for your body this year, change your deodorant to either a crystal rock (available at all chemists and Dunelm and online) or a completely natural one free of parabens, alcohol, aluminium and artificial fragrances.

  • Sleep well; aim for at least 8 hours continuous sleep as this allows your body to restore and regenerate properly. Remember the cells in your body are constantly renewing and rest is required for your body to carry out its detoxifying cleansing and nutrient intake to maximum effect.

  • Have a colonic; it is said that on average 3 colonic irrigations per year are amazing for your body as they literally clear out undigested waste through your system, clearing the way for good nutrient absorption. If old stagnated waste stays in the colon, it becomes a breeding ground for disease and problems associated with colon cancer and other illnesses. If you haven’t enough money you might consider buying an enema kit instead.
